I click on the thumbs up or thumbs down icon but nothing happens. I refresh the page and it has not saved my rateing. Am I doing something wrong?

You don't have enough points. Gain some points to around 250 points and you will be able to give thumbs-up/down.

your still a level 1. once you pass 250 points you'll be a level 2 and then you'll be able to rate answers. keep answering questions!
