The use of LOL to express laughter is unrelated to other uses of the abbreviation, many of which, such as "lots of love", predate the Internet. LOL has also replaced the more-obvious "Ha!" that letter writers use.

Yeah even i didn't know....
Well, u know that if earlier people wanted to express laughter while chatting they would type..."hahahaha"...but instead...they now type LOL because...it means
"Laugh Out Loud".
. or
"Lots of Laughs"...
and its spreading everywhere along with "BRB" for "Be Right Back"
and "ASAP" for " As Soon As Possible"
