A metronome is a device which gives an audible 'click' on every beat in a bar of music. Helpful to prevent you from changing speed as you play your way through a song.

G'day Sphinx Godcares09,

Thank you for your question.

A metronome is a device that produces a regular pulse and is used to keep the beat steady in musical compositions. The traditional version is wound up but there are also electronic ones.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Metronome is an device to help you keep the Tempo of the song.
You can set it to any speed you want(measuring unit is BMP, Beats Per Minute). the default is 120 BMP.

after 2-3 months of practicing with the metronome, you can keep the beat without it... usually, but this depends on the person.

This is important if you are a drummer.

A metronome is an instrument either digital or clockwork used by musicians during practise sessions to regulate time (keep a beat steady) in musical compositions.

The clockwork variety is usually a pendullum mechanism in a housing. It clicks at regular intervals to match the time signature of a given piece.

It is a device that helps keep time when one is playing a peice of music. you can use it when you practice to keep strict time. older metronomes have a tab that slides up or down to adjust the beats per minute, but now much more advanced digital ones are available.
