Small, you are already aware that the concept of time and the concept of space cannot be separated, they exist only as parameters in the same equation. With that in mind, neither was there a "before", nor was there a "where", until the Big Bang. All of space/time expanded from that primordial action.
On the other hand; Although you have discounted science, and rightfully so since there is no empirical test, you have not mentioned religious teaching. I accept, in faith, the Hindu accounts of creation, the cycles of creation at all levels, from atomic to human civilization to the physical universe. Each runs in cycles from one extreme to the other.
The concept of the Big Bang is not new, at least not newer than the past 3500 years. In the ancient Hindu documents are given the life cycles of these, and I don't remember the numbers (because the concept was more important at the time) but I think human civilization is given a full cycle of 24,000 years with it's most recent low point as recent as the last 4,000 years. The bible-thumpers don't know it but their scripture can be interpreted into the same creation story.
The universe is given an exremely long cycle like 43E360 of our solar years. The universe's cycle begins with a big bang and ends in total collapse to nothingness, and then the cycle repeats. I think the nothingness is what you want to better understand.
Although between cycles of the physical universe there is no space/time and there is no matter, the three attributes of life remain and cannot be extinguished. They are Existence, Consciousness and Power, and at this point on the cycle, they are condensed to a singularity.
If you find this consistent with the evidence, your next question is, "What was - before the FIRST big bang?"
The answer remains the same, and is eternal and is now.

"The Bible does however mention in both the Old and New Testaments about God creating a new and new earth for the old one had passed away. Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. And in Revelations 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. "
for the first time i heard something from the bible that might make sense and be scientific at the same time. "might" ......Mars the closest planet we feel could have had life, and have found traces of lifeforms and water. Now is seemed to be comepletely dry. We could have came from mars in a primitive state and a primitive mind (in few numbers) by help from a superior being (more advanced not fantastical). Tieing links to many things we always wondered about it, myths, ledgends, and folklore. think about it.
but n e ways... the universe has always been, is always constant. Our universe can be part of a giant aliens shoe for all we know. Nothing created it, cause how did anything exist before it to create it? God, energy, if the universe didn't exist, nothing would be possible, that is why it is constant.
this is just an idea.... as is everything else that we "beleive"

Well you asked both the scientific and philosophical rooms but there is the religious also.
I haven't looked lately but early in this century 2000 and before I read about the superstring theory. (see first 2 links) and a newer one is called the cyclic universe (3rd link). The superstring theory unifed the four forces together that allow for mass and energy particles to interact and allow for our existence. The cyclic universe theorize how time and space always existed. Both theories allow for parallel universes to exist. But it is true these are just theories. I'm sure I am behind the times since then.
The Bible does however mention in both the Old and New Testaments about God creating a new and new earth for the old one had passed away. Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. And in Revelations 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
It's a strange paradox that science theorized something that is mentioned in the Bible as prophetic fact.

All I can say is THANK YOU for posting that question. It's a good opportunity to see how many theories are out there. I wish I had an answer, but mine is from the Bible and most people don't want to hear about it. But science cannot give you an answer because they are not God...and they'll never know unless they find it fossilized in a rock..and then they can only say..'WE THINK...'
If it were up to me, I would ask...'see that sky? What do you think lays beyond that? Anything? NO? Well, I do. I believe there is a parallel universe that is the exact opposite of ours. A mirrored reflection of the images that are far beyond our imaginations. We could be what the other side is looking at. The images that we receive enter the eye upside down and our brain translates those images in reverse and turns them right side up. So is the way of the parallel universe.'
Well, nothing is impossible...now I must rest. When I think of the possible scope of that, it makes me sleepy. Sure hope you get some good answers.
However, I would like to come back and see some of the answers you get. It should be very interesting.

Science is limited to 5 sense perceptions, where philosophy is meant to be wisdom, indeed. A kind of knowledge which creates, research, investigate, analysis, synthesis and gave birth to new field of knowledge. It has a much wider thinking process then physical science.
Big bang was discovered in our days, based on a past theories, just those theories were considered be true in those days of prevailing knowledge, in our days science is thought to be a solution of such answers, which is a mis-conception, scientific knowledge has also its limitation, most because of depending on 5 material senses only, there are other types of knowledge too, which go beyond 5 material senses.
Every question is inter-linked with another one, to solve the mysteries and gain realization of our own self and this world, if someone dont understand the counter integrated realities, he may overlook many truths.
So your question is not so simple, there are many supportive and backed up question, which stream line the chain of realities or truth.
There is a world before the creation of the universe, and that world comes into experience through the ability of soul.
Logical point is, there must be some thing before the creation.
Creation stands for matter (creation of matter), anything which is created (in any way, explosion or else) must uses some sort of energies, so that to form the universe or existence of living system, come into being.
It is impossible to assume that matter existed with itself, no such example is found in any knowledge or observation.
Therefore it is clear that this expansion or creation of universe (or matter) comes into being from some sort of energies. What are those energies (realities) and how they create the matter? In my investigation, and as said earlier, comes only into the experience through the abilities of soul (or our reality or non material side or an energy resemble to pre-creation energy or sense perception, many names)
More will be a headache.

once you have been first typing in this question you in all threat observed a minimum of a ga-zillion proper questions and their solutions pop up on your demonstrate. in case you had taken some moments to study a pair of those answer you have found that there is not any answer on your question. There are any kind of innovations, yet none of them might properly be scientifically confirmed, even nonetheless some who positioned up solutions to this kind of question cutting-edge the innovations as though they are etched-in-stone info. whilst conversing approximately the two 'what' got here until eventually now the super Bang that created our universe, or 'what' lies previous our universe there is not any way that any of the myriad innovations might properly be invoked devoid of the two infinity, an absolute void, or some style of metaphysical First reason unavoidably entering the photograph. One theory is that our universe has dimensions different than those we are familiar with. what number different dimensions? Six? 11? 1000000000? anticipate that there are one hundred further dimensions. that could leave us suitable decrease back the place all of us started -- what's previous those hundred dimensions? the only answer is there could be a limiteless kind of dimensions. yet another concept is that our universe began whilst it collided with yet another universe. ok, lower back the unique question isn't replied by using fact we are left nonetheless hung up on the unique question -- what's previous our universe and the only we collided with? Then there is the theory there is a few 'mom' universe that spawns different universes. decrease back to the comparable question -- what's previous this 'mom' universe? If there's no longer something then it is going to be infinite. with the help of calling up Heisenberg's Uncertainty theory innovations have been progressed stipulating that each time a call is made, such as you swap left incredibly of suitable at some crossroads, or an atom "makes a decision" to decay, yet another universe branches off wherein the choice selection is made. right here lower back the question is 'the place' or 'whilst' did such severe judgements start up? After the super Bang? That places us suitable decrease back at sq. one -- what become until eventually now that?

If you are a believer of Big Bang theory, then maybe everything was constricted in a single atom. There is a book written by Dalai Lama called "Universe in a single atom". I haven't read it but the name suggests that everything started from a explosion of a single atom.
But to me, I am still reluctant to believe the Big Bang theory. I think universe, space and time has no creation and no end. Just like energy is neither created nor destroyed, similarly universe, space and time are beginningless and endless. They've always been there and will always be there. Earth, sun, moon, stars can perish and be created but universe holds them all. It is the base, the source which has no creation. It is the creation itself. It is the creator itself. It is the supreme being. It is the very thing that we call God. Hence God is not a being but it is a creation itself.
I hope I haven't confused you with my last few sentences. But I hope you get what I mean.

amazing question!
Really there are so many scientific theories about what existed before the big bang and what will happen after the big crunch.
what existed before the big bang should be a object or a thing which
had a lot of power(you can take it in anyway).
This power isn't the final power-it is merely the creator, the power which gave rise to it-a thing which the finality to us(it to can be a part
of and controlled by another thing.
It is like in a game of chess-the players are the creators they create but they themselves are part of humanity.
Imagine something as big as the universe coming from inside something which will be very very small? We are the shadows of that force or power, which in turn is a part of the other power, which in turn is part of the power and which will/can be a part of another power-so all we can conclude is everything is constant and yet starts and ends.

Just as our solar system formed from the remnants of nearby exploded stars, I think this universe was a black hole formed from remnants of another universe. As the black hole reached a critical mass, at which point the quarks, or more fundamental building blocks, were pressing against each other, it exploded. It would be accurate, then, to speak of 'our local spacetimeline' rather than some absolute beginning of space and time. Also, I doubt that the universe will contract. It seems more likely that the globular clusters will gradually angle around to orbit the empty center of the universe, ultimately colliding, forming a black hole, and exploding again!

Seeing as religion is eternal and everlasting, the only logical and believable reason for existence is from gd. anyone who believes in scientology and that the world was started from a firecracker is insane. its like if i told u that if u pour a drop of orange juice in a cup or in the ground, then 2 yrs later, ull have an orange tree. be realistic people, only divine powers can create somethign so complicated and diverse that science has years and years to catch up on. gd gave us this earth to protect and to maintain. he didnt put it here for us to decide that a firecracker helped create it. hope this sheds some insight into how realistic and people of this planet think, not arrogant scientists who think theyre the be all end all with this world. take care and good luck to all.
