it depends on how long you worked before you left! If you have enough national insurance stamps then you can claim"contribution based" job seekers. It wont matter that your partner works!

There is nothing to stop you from claiming Jobseekers Allowance (JSA). You will need to explain the reason(s) for leaving your job and it will be up to a Decision Maker at JSA to determine whether or not your reason(s) for leaving are reasonable or not. It is unlikely that you will be successful in making a claim for JSA to be paid from the time you left your job and will only be paid from the actual date of your claim. You need to claim JSA based on your National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and Income-based JSA. If you have paid appropriate NICs you will receive JSA in full for up to 6 months. If you have not paid appropriate NICs, the amount of JSA you will receive will depend on your personal circumstances, eg., whether you are married or living with a partner and any other income you may receive. JSA may be reduced because of such circumstances. In order to qualify for NICs or income-based JSA you must show that you are available for and actively seeking employment for a minimum of 40 hours per week. You will therefore not be entitled to JSA at all whilst on holiday. Paid holidays will be taken into account and you be assessed as still employed for the period the paid holiday covers. I hope the above helps in some way. Good luck and happy holidays.

Not sure if you can, as you said your partner is working 30 hours a week, therefore it will be seen that the income received within your household is substantial enough to not warrant any JSA. I suggest however that you arrange a meeting with the employment service to find out for sure.

Why are you asking on here? Just try calling your local job centre and they will be able to help. If not then look up Citizens Advice in the phone book.
