Hi~
My husband and I have 4 little girls. We decided to get their ears pierced very early on. Of course I wanted to do it because it's pretty. No more "Oh, what's his name?" Or things that can happen if you have an infant girl and HATE the color pink. lol But since pediatricians say infants get over pain more easily, (they seem to forget almost instantly) I thought the sooner the better. This is partly why boys are circumsized so early. So when they were each about 3 months old (and had their tetnus shots) I went to the mall and had it done. With many severe looks from other patrons in the mall I must say. Why do they HAVE to stick you in that chair right in the window?!? But none of my girls shed a tear. They mostly were annoyed for a sec and then got over it.
So if I had to do it over again would I? Well actually one of the girls lost an earring, and I had to have it repierced when she was about 6 years-old. This time she totally freaked out :( Fortunately it was only one ear, because no way could I have talked her into a second one. So I would definitely stick with the sooner rather than later.
I really hope this is helpful to you!

P.S. Somtimes you can talk them into using two piercing guns so they can do both ears at once since it is the second ear they usually have a harder time with. Good luck either way!

It really is your choice at this age and not theirs as many ladies here said. Don't we dress them up in clothes we like. Don't we put hats and socks and such accessories which we like then why not ear piercing. I had my daughters ears pierced at 4 months with a shot gun. She looks gorgeous in the rubies that she wears. It just took a couple of minutes. Its almost like the vaccine shots we give them. They cry and then forget it. There are pharmacies and jewellery shops which carry baby earrings now a days. These are medicated earrings which will not let the ear get infected. Yes your daughter will cry for a minute or two but its lot better than when she grows up because that time she'll know she's in pain. babies have special tolerance for pain and as their parts are soft they heal soon. I've heard babies who waited till 8 months to two years to get pierced often pull out the earring and bleed because of that. its better to avoid such a situation unless you decide not to let her pierce at all. I always wanted my nose to be pierced when I was small and my mom didn't let me. Today I think back and think that it was for the good because I'm not the type of a person who would go for a pierced nose. It personally is a choice you have to make. if she doesn't want it when she grows up she can stop wearing earrings and it will close up.

As long as there is no possibility of her getting hurt by sleeping on her side and having a post poke her (not too sure if they have special earrings for babies) or pulling them out...then I don't see a problem especially since the tolerance for pain is much higher when they are young. My family has a tradition of piercing ears at the age of 2, so we all kind of stick to the tradition. But I have seen babies with pierced ears and it does look really cute. It's going to end up happening at some point in her life so I think it's fine.

Here it is... You have options on how to get it done (because I am pro peircing for girls I had mine done when I was a month old) You could do it with a peircing gun, but you run the risk of jamming the gun. You could have it done with a needle at a shop, but you run the risk of her squirming and it being crooked. I personally like the gun method because its quick and mostly pain free they dont have time to move before its over with. Just MAKE SURE you put hoops in you can ask a jewelery person which hoops are best. The needle of the earing should insert into the hoop and not stick out. The hoops are the best earring to choose for a baby because they are not easily caught on stuff and also they should be small hoops that fit snug on her ear. Hope this helped

Both of my girls had it done at around three months. They each cried for about 1 minute and that was it. I think its better to do it when they're babies cause 1)they won't know whats coming so they're not scared and 2) they forget about them and don't pull on them or mess with them. As for some who say wait until they can decide on their own...most likely they will want pierced ears and if they don't they just don't have to wear earrings and the holes will close.

Go for it. I pierced my 1st daughters at 3 months and when my new baby gets 3 months she is going to get it as well. People will state that you shouldn't because when your child grow up they may not want it, but most likely a girl will and if she dont there is always her choice of not wearing ear rings. It really brightens a baby face with their cute ear rings in.

I got my daughters ears pierced at 12 months old. IMPORTANT: get them done by a professional, with a piercing needle, NOT A GUN. They will heal MUCH faster. Also, you can get tiny captive-ball hoops put in so they are easier to clean, she wont be able to take them out by herself, and they wont hurt her when she is laying down. My daughter only fussed about being held down, and stopped crying within a minute of them being pierced. Getting them needle pierced was the best. They healed in just days rather than weeks. I think its better to get them done younger, rather that when they are like 4 or 5. When they are that little, they forget they are even there. If they are a few years older, they get their grubby little hands all over them. I got my ears pierced at the same age, and its no big deal. Ive never met a girl who was mad at her parents for piercing her ears when she was a baby. I HIGHLY recommend captive-ball hoops and getting them done with a piercing needle. MUCH faster healing time, and less chances of infection.

I was told by a nurse that it is best to wait for a baby to get all of their 1st year shots before you get their ears pierced. So I waited with my daughter and now she is 1 1/2 and i can't really get them pierced because she would pull on them so now i have to wait until she is like three i guess.

hi, i am shedding a little light on this topic as coming from a hairdresser there is nothing that breaks your heart more than to hear the cries of a baby having her ears pierced. alot of salons now refuse to pierce babies ears as the ears are still growing and infection can set in quite quickly as they are to young to use alot of the medi swabs given to adults and teenagers.it is very hard to keep infants ears sanitised while the ear heals. wait till she is older she will look forward to getting it done. theres an advert on television i have seen where the girl excitedly counts down to her birthday to get her ears pierced it will make it more special for you to. i had my ears pierced when i was 2 and they got infected i am now allergic to anything but gold(that doesn't go down to well with the husband).

it is in trouble-free terms a piercing, can not you wait till your 16? you are able to harm you mom and father emotions in case you bypass at the back of their backs. No i'd not harm. there is more beneficial of a probability of your ears getting contaminated in case you get it pierced with a gun, it is maximum ideal to get it done with a needle (scary i understand) besides the undeniable fact that it fairly would not harm, for a split second it hurts a tiny bit yet then the ear is going numb. Gok Wan has stretched ear lobes, so till your planning to stretch your ears, i'd bypass for the stud. solid success on regardless of you opt for.
