Your 1/4d or quarter penny or more commonly called the farthing is actually quite common and according to coin catalog, in average circulated it's worth around $0.15-$0.25, and nicer ones for half a dollar, while a mint state specimen at $1.50. But in reality, it's not worth what the book says and it's available in most coin dealer's mixed world coins bin for a quarter or less each. And yes, it's definitely worth keeping not for its value, but because it's the last farthing coin of South Africa to depict Queen Elizabeth II, the last series of coins from the Union of South Africa, and the last series of pre-decimal coins of South Africa.

That is the Welsh 1 pound coin, which is still in circulation and worth 1 pound. While the UK is combined, there are separate coins for England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man (at least). Scotland also has it's own banknotes.
