The perspectives of friends can be more objective (and also more loving) than our own in knowing us, but it can take lifetimes to "truly" know anyone - ourselves or our significant someones. Isn't that what our lifetimes are for?

Good question!!
Human beings are so inconsistent and unpredictable that indeed no one can know with certainty. The women in particular can be even more enigmatic. It takes us the whole of our lifetime to know even our own self and that too just about, since we keep changing even without our knowledge as time passes. It is this inconsistency and unpredictability that makes human so very interesting and special.... the science of psychology is a minuscule attempt to unravel the greatest mystery of this universe.. namely the human mind (more so of the female sex)

they will know the parts you let them inside. I think if you don't truly understand yourself, you need more self-confidence. I felt that way before and all you need is some self-respect and independence to understand yourself. The more confidence you have the easier decisions are made, which opens up what you are really about. Stop thinking too much, just do it. (Nike)

No one can truly know us because there are even things about ourselves that we don't know. However, as the Johari's window principle says, there are things that other people know about us that we don't know or see in ourselves.
