Yes, Judaism embodies the definition of an ethnic group. Their culture withstands time and carries traditions that give them an identity.
An ethnicity represents people that no matter where they are, has no geographical boundaries and demonstrates cultural characteristics that define their group anywhere.

I think that Jews are both an ethnic and a religious group. I know this due to my friend who's an American and is also a Polish Jew. You'd think ethnically he's Polish and religiously he's Jewish, right? But actually, he's ethnically Jewish and religiously agnostic. He went to Hebrew school for five years, so he knows how to speak and write Hebrew, and he also knows the cultural customs of Judaism, like separating the men and women during weddings and lighting the menorah at Hanukkah. He's not a believer in Judaism, but he practices these customs as a cultural tradition instead of a religious tradition. That's how I know Jewish people have Judaism as both an ethnicity and a religion.

I'm not sure. I was thinking being Jewish meant you followed the religion. I didn't think it was an ethnic group but what would I know.

To my understanding, there are the jews, descendants of the ancient hebrews, and the jews, practitioners of Judaism. So there is more than one meaning of the word.
