Before 1980 is old?!? Honey, you just made me feel ancient. I guess nothing could beat the original "Star Wars" before the dark side of Lucas messed with it.

Just recently watched the original Manchurian Candidate (1962) and that's got to be up there on the list. Angela Landsbury was absolutely evil in the movie.
I loved The Sting. It's probably the best of the heist/sleight of hand movies I've ever seen and I just watched it a couple years ago.
Casablanca was just a good story. But I really need to watch it again.
Jaws and Star Wars are just part of our culture besides being good movies. And to this day, Jaws is part of the reason I have never been in the ocean.
I thought the Godfather movies were well made, but they didn't really do much for me. Although #2 was probably my favorite of the 3.
Citizen Kane was a well made movie, but I didn't really care for it. Although I do have to admit it's stuck with me long after I watched it.

Let's say for the sake of argument that old movie means pre-1950. In that case, I'd choose It's A Wonderful Life. The 'everyman' story with a twist. Great directing and acting, with a heartfelt ending. Bringing Up Baby and Gunga Din and the Four Feathers are others I'd put right up there.

I don't know if I could pick just one movie...I liked yul brenner in the king and i, and Singing in the rain, then there was the Tammy movies, Gigi, Thunder Road, Ben Hur, Little Big Man staring dustin Hoffman, and buffalo girls, Patton, and True Grit...there were just so many back then that were really great, Gone with the Wind, and Uncle Remus, the Reevers (I laughed so hard my sides hurt) my list could go on for many more.
Most movies today just don't have what they did back in the 30's 40's 50's and 60's

Before 1980 should be James bond or 007. You the spy but naked of body with james bond movie. Here should be so sensitive as no open minded, for me absolutely very open. Smart a people can act every thing especially in denger, so is pretty cool. I'm not sure but sure can be know ended as tricky question.

There's a lot of them - I like old silent films like Metropolis, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and Nosferatu.
I also like the old universal monster movies like Dracula and Frankenstein.
And I'm not sure really of the reason why, just I suppose because they're all darker movies (well, all horror with the exception of Metropolis and that's sci-fi, so it's close enough).

Casablanca (1941)
i love this oldy cos it has a simple story and charming characters. Plus it has my favourite oldies actor, Humphrey Bogart. Oh, and it has so many really famous lines.
here are a few that Humphrey delivers
"here's looking at you, kid"
"play it again Sam"
"of all the gin joints in all the world, she walks into mine"
Louis. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship'

My favorite was either Creature From the Black Lagoon, Star Wars or Rocky because Creature From the Black Lagoon is kind of cool, Star Wars was awesome and Rocky rocks.
