I found a youtube video of a duet between Hayley Westenra and Andrea Bocelli that is absolutely amazing (plus there's ice skaters performing during the song that are very talented). I'd like to get the duet so I can play it on my music player, but I don't know how. Is there a way for me to pull the audio out and save it as an mp3 file (or any other sound file?)
The video, if you're curious, is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdxRmcgsKDQ
Even if you don't know how to solve my problem, watch the video. It's beautiful.

Download the free audio editor Audacity (link below). You can use it to record the signals from your sound card as you're playing the video clip on YouTube. Not only will this work with YouTube, but any audio source (iTunes songs, for example).

Start up Audacity.
Select Wave Out Mix from the input source drop down.
Click the Record button before you begin playing the YouTube clip.
Play the YouTube clip. You many need to adjust the input level slider to maximize the input signal while keeping distortion to a minimum.
If you're not hearing the output during the recording process, you may need to go to Edit > Preferences, click the Audio I/O tab, and marking the checkbox that reads Software Playthrough.

After you're done recording, click the Stop button, then trim the beginning and end of the audio clip to remove any dead spots. Select File > Export as MP3 to save the audio as an MP3 file.

First off, get the file by going to a site called "You Tube Downloader".

It downloads the files in the flash format that they're published in. The program that extracts audio is called Switch
