it's safe for the goldfish but obviously not for the hermit crabs. hermit crabs are land mollusk. they cannot stand for even half an hour under water. it will just die honey. or it will also be harmful for your goldfish if you will try to lessen or take of the water from your aquarium. choose only one pet. you cannot have both.

Safer than it will be for the hermit crabs! The hermit crabs you see in pet stores are terrestrial - they need air to breathe. The young are hatched in the ocean, but they leave for life on land. They can only survive a few minutes in water.

There are some hermits that live out their entire life in water- but it's salt water. As in ocean. They wouldn't survive in your goldfishs' tank. And they wouldn't like his.

If you have your heart set on owning a hermit, get the crabs their own tank.

Do you mean fiddler crabs, if so then the crabs could eat the fish, it's rare but it has happened to me. So try to get a female crab as they don't have the one giant pincer. Also if your goldfish is big it would help.

Hermit crabs are land animals. They'll drown.
