Hi, hoping someone can help me. Today I started getting very dark vaginal discharge, not heavy, no odor, no discomfort, just VERY dark. I've been on the birth control patch but I just started it, I'm due to have my period on Saturday. My hubby and I have been using condoms until I know this new birth control is working right but about a week ago there was a little "accident" with the condom. The patch says that I only have to use additional contraception for the first week, and it had already been well over two when this happened but I'm still confused as to what it could be. Early pregnancy signs? Preparation for menstruation? I don't know, any help would be great!

Brown blood is old blood and is an indicator that the period is starting. New blood is red. As for black discharge that is something that I would recommend talking to the dr about to be on the safe side.
