i like this guy, but we're pretty good friends.
how do i know if he likes me back?

just ask him then tell him you like him. trust me it's worth letting him know. i just admitted to a friend that i like him. the feeling is just liberating. don't be scared of rejection. there is nothing wrong with feelings. it is part of being human. if he doesn't feel the same way, what's there to loose right? there are a lot of other fishes in the sea. and if he really is a good friend as you say, he will know how to treat you will. he would know how to treat you well and make sure he doesn't hurt your feelings.
trust me, been there... in case he doesn't reciprocate your feelings if he really is a good friend... the best thing that you would expect from him is to say thank you for liking me or loving me that much... i really am flattered and i truly appreciate it... might as well say it now rather than you thinking forever "what if"...

flirt with him a little,i am sure u guys hang out in groups but try n go out with him alone catch a romantic movie(about friends turning into lovers) or take him to a mall and say u wanna go shopping, try some clothes on and ask him if he likes it but don't overdo it.Let him get the idea that ur into him and he will defenitely respond.

If he talks to you: he is interested. :p
all kidding aside: if you can't come out and ask him if he would like to take you out on a date then ask him to take you shopping. Then go to a girlie place and if he sticks around much after that then you will start going all kinds of places after that.
BUT if you make him go to too many girlie places and he likes it he may just be gay and enjoys having an excuse to go to those places.
Either way you get a guy to take you places. so it's win-win.

try hitting on him more directly- like dress up and ask him out. or ask what kind of girl he likes, and see if it matches you. or see if he has any prospects lines up- if not maybe he's not dating so he can take the chance to be with you if the chance comes up.
