this guy im talking to on aol wants to kill himself. I been talkin to him for about 4 years or so, so i know hes serious. He was gonna do it tonight but i IMed him, and he told me. I've been talking to him for about an hour trying to stop him, but i dont think im getting anywhere..I dont know what to do. Can anybody help?

That person obviously using your emotion. He would have done it by now if he is serious. He is obviously looking for love, attention and the whole lot. If he has been telling you that for 4 yrs about killing himself, then you need to overlook your emotions.
There are professional you can refer this person to, or call the police and get them sort him out. If he is really in danger. After 4 years, you should know by now you are not the one to be talking to him. He is now using you and he knows its working because you are still listening to him.
The minute you stop, he will soon find another victim to pour his missrable life to.
You take care of yourself not him. Sounds like hes got to you. Thats why there are Psychological professional. If you are one, then may be its time you question yourself as to why you are still talking to this person.

Oh snaps, tell him that you care about him and that you will suffer a lot if he were to kill himself. Just tell him that somebody loves him and that his life and presence int his world matters a lot o someone. Also tell him that people in the world have suffered and are suffering more than what he is currently suffering in his life, tell him to think about the people around the world that are sick and starving, that his life isn't worse than theirs.

tell him to really think about what he's doing. the attention you give him will only fuel it more. I say stop chatting for a week or so and then get back on. im sure he'll be there. and if he does kill himself, dont worry about it; his life shouldnt affect yours.

You need to talk to him. And let him feel that he have a friend he can rely on. Try to be on his side always. Don't let him feel that his life is useless. Try to comfort him as much as you can.

if some one has been saying it and he said he IS doing it, call your local police and ask them for assistance
and what to do and where to go with it
they should help you out

talk to him continueosly,try to convince him that killing himself wont solve all his problems and tell him all people have problems so he only have to be strong and hold on.Problems don`t come to people who ca`t solve it.they just don`t try.
