a criminal in my vicinity is bullying me and my family. he used to forcibly come to our place & spent hours without leaving. we run a school at home for pre primary & adults (english etc.) he used to come to eye the girls and ladies. we tried various ways to avoid him but he threatened us of spoiling our school by creating nuicance around our house. now finally i asked him to stop coming here or else i would take appropriate action. he threatened me of dire consequences and now he is busy destroying our banners/hoardings/boards and abuses us when he encounters us anywhere. reporting to police is meaningless as he manages to escape. he is already out of jail on bail. if someone reports against him he also registers a fake fir against him with the police. he has connections with the big goons of jamshedpur. our life is miserable. help

Threatening harm to another person can be a crime.
If you truly believe he will hurt you, then what you do is tell your police authorities that he threatened you.
They will arrest him take him to the station, and set up a trail date.

If your police dont want to do anything, then go to the city. If they dont go to the D.A, or even to Internal affairs.
If that dont work go tothe federal government.

but if you fear he could harm you, have the police arrest him.
Thats the only way some people learn.
Police will try to say youre setting yourself up against liability and might even want to talk you out of it.
Stick to your guns, and say he threatened me, and I do feel he will hurt me.

do you think he is violent? Can you safely spray him with a cold hose everytime he comes over? Lock the doors and throw pottery at him from the second floor. Not if he's violent or will break the window.

Hire a security gaurd for the school.

keep the doors locked when not expecting students.

Do you have a prior business relationship with this man? Something need to be cleared up or aired out?

I saw some of the responses above. Some one said you shoot at him. I also tend to believe that is the right thing to do. There is another suggestion. Post a security guard. Fix up an appointment with a top police officer and apprise him of your problem. If that does not help and you do not have the guts to face up to him, close your shop and shift to some other place.

Lodge a FIR against him at the local police station, and also appoint security guards for the safety of you and your family, Also meet the higher administrative officers along with local MLA/MLC/MP with the complains for the proper actions.

Treat him well. Feed him high calorie stuff that will make him sleepy, lethargic and inactive. Let the flies and insects take care of him.

Don't warn him, just do whatever you have to do and do it collectively.
