This link should tell you step by step how to get dvd's to work in WMP.

The problem is probably that you do not have a DVD decoder on your system. You can either buy a plugin for WMP or you can buy a full dvd software package like WinDVD or PowerDVD.

Your computer requires two components to play back DVD's.
The first is a DVD drive, you can make sure it is a DVD drive by checking the front of tray. It should have the DVD logo embossed on the front if it is a DVD drive.
The second component is DVD play back software. Windows media player is not this kind of software and is not able to play DVD's without it. Windows does not come with this software though many pc manufacturers do provide such software with new computers. Still, you need to obtain software like Cyberlink Power DVD or Nero Showtime to play DVD's.

You might not have a DVD Drive.
- To Check to go to:
: Start - My Computer - D:/ Drive (and it will tell you) mine says DVD-RW Drive, so I can watch DVDs, play CDs, burn DVD's and CDs.

And i dont like Windows Media Player.. its just EWW - lol

I use VLC Media Player and it works like a charm (give it a try)
