Do not panic if a stinging insect comes near to you or lands on you. Either keep still or move very slowly away in the opposite direction. The flapping of arms and hands is particularly threatening to stinging insects so just keep cool and you should be left in peace!

Leave the area quickly if you are attacked by bees. The attack could last until the victim leaves the area. Cover your face using your hands and arms to protect your eyes and mouth from the bees. Seek shelter inside enclosures where the bees cannot enter such as a car, house, tent, or other building. Do not jump into water for protection.

Read question asked by quarterbaker:
"I am allergic to bee stings, so this is something I've been researching for quite a while. I have done many internet searches, I've talked with entomologists - NOT EVEN ONE GLIMMER OF AN ANSWER.
Here's the requirements: 1. Portable. Gotta be able to take it with me wherever I go. Therefore it can't be a plant, or a paint additive, etc. 2. Repels, but doesn't aggravate. I don't want to anger the critters, don't want to kill them, just want them to stay away.
Anybody know of a baked solution, or of any hint of a solution?"

There is not much a person could do when they are being attacked by a swarm of bees! Some say you should jumo into water because they will not follow, however bees are clever creatures and they will probably wait for you on top of the water! The worst thing to do is attack back, but rather try and take cover somewhere!

Do not swat, that angers them more. Honey bees can fly more than 20 miles per hour so you can NOT out run them. If the bees are africanized, they will chase you up to 1/2 mile! Experts recommend that you quickly seek shelter like in a car with windows up or a building with doors and windows closed. Do NOT stand and wait for them to leave! Doing this could send you to the hospital or kill you. Do not dive into water! Single bees collecting pollen are no threat. Only if you disturb a nest will a swarm attack you. You can not tell Africanized bees from regular honey bees. The Africanized ones are more aggressive and 10 times more apt to attack than non-africanized. They can also attack and kill pets trapped in a yard and livestock.

Run. Bee's can only fly 8 mph, and you can run at least 15 mph for a short distance. They will lose track of you quickly due to their poor sight distance and short attention span. They also do not like to get too far from the hive. They cannot see red, so wear red clothing to more easily "hide" from them.

Running will invite more attack. They attack only moving objects.
Immediately lie down flat, and don't move.
The bees will follow others who run.Even if you are alone they will return if you lay still.
Slowly move away after they are gone.
They attack only when they are disturbed and aroused.

RUN fast.....don't swat at them, makes them angrier. Run into the house or through tall weeds to slow them down. Don't' jump into a pool or lake, they will be waiting for you.
