of course they can... as long as the HEAT have the refs in their pocket... they will never loose. 8 on 5 is the way to go when you have a one dimensional player like Snaqeer on your team, and backing him up is the OTHER one dimensional player D-fade

Of course they can. Anyone can. The teams that make the tail end of the playoffs all have a few guys who can go nuts and destroy other teams.
Teams that could realistically beat Dallas -
Detroit - Deep team with a great athletic front court players in Prince, Webber, Sheed and vetran McD which could be used to slow Dirk down. Hamilton and Billups in the back court are a strong combo.
Cleveland - LeBron can tear teams apart if Iglauskas is fit he's a better C than Dampier and Gooden is a defensive stopper to put on Dirk. If they do move Lary Hughes for someone that meshes better they may be very hard to beat in the finals.
Miami - Shaq and Wade backed up by J-Will, Mourning, Haslem, Payton, Posey, Walker and the emerging star Kapono. Their biggest obstacle is the likelyhood that they'll be on the road more than home in the finals but on pure talent they can beat anyone.
San Antonio - Duncan is a winner, He has a good supporting cast. I'd favor the Mavs but they definitly could cause the upset.
Utah - Nobody expected the Jazz to play this well but they are. They are very strong up front and someon like AK47 is the kind of defensive stopper who can make Dirk work hard. Again I'd favor the Mavs but the Jazz has the ability with Boozer, Okur etc to upset.
Ok you didn't want them mentioned but it needs to be done - Phoenix - Nash, Bell, Barbosa, Diaw, Marion, Stoudemire, Kurt Thomas even Jalen Rose all have the ability to cause problems for other teams. I'd favor the Mavs but if the Suns are on they are very very good.
Lastly, the team I feel that could beat the Mavs in a best of 7 - the Dallas Mavericks. They are built around Dirk if he's shut down they may struggle, Josh Howard is option 2 but who is option 3?. They have talented role players but some such as Dampier, Stackhouse and Harris appear to have the ability to implode. I think they are the best team in the league and deserve to win the title this year but they are certainly beatable.

No, under no circumstances. The communities with the perfect threat to beat the warmth in a 7 sport sequence are: a million. la Lakers 2. Oklahoma city Thunder 3. Boston Celtics 4. San Antonio Spurs 5. Chicago Bulls

Anything can happen in a 7 game series. Miami proved that already. If Dallas stays healthy and the don't turn the ball over to much then they might win a seven game series. It depends on who they play. San Antonio or Detroit will give them a tough time. The Suns would loose if they slowed the game down but if they don't slow the game down and they try to run with then Dallas would loose.

NO!! I dont think that any team can beat the Mavs in a 7 game series because they are so focused on that NBA Championship that they practically gave to the Heat. The only team that should give them trouble is the Suns.

Nobody is unbeatable. Yes, they are getting better and that they've got the deepest team in the nba is nothing. The thing i worry most about them is that they've hit peak form too early. Beating them in 7 is possible. SA, Pheonix, Detriot have teams who can actually beat them in 7.
Having said, i really hope the mavs can be world champs this year! Go Mavs! Go Dirk!

The Heat beat the Mavs last year.
This year, however, Dallas has good shot of winning the Finals.

Bullshit! Dallas will lose to Miami again! Remember my name, because Miami will win it all this year! I don' even see Dallas going past the second round. If they do, they will be knocked off by Phoenix in the West Finals via a sweep. Miami will beat Phoenix inside six games in the FInals.

The question is not who can beat the Mavericks, it it how they could possibly beat themselves. They are the best team in the NBA during the season, but when they get to the crunch time in the playoffs Dirk does not play like Dirk.

They haven't won a championship yet so chances are someone will knock off again. Could be San Antonio, Detroit maybe with the addition of Webber or even the Lakers who match up well against them if they get healthy and get Kidd. They deserve a ring though
