I dont know if this is considered a family movie but my favorite animal movie is project x where they are making the monkeys fly suicide planes and put through radiation its an older movie but it has always stuck out in my head as a favorite.

Lady and the Tramp-- classic Disney cartoon- my favorite. I am not a lover of some of the other movies like "8 below" which I did like but it was too sad for children - like other animal movies, they did show dogs dying, and since that was a true story- I think it is too sad for kids.

The best one I've watched recently is Open Season... it is great for kids and adults. It had me laughing the whold time. Martin Lawrence is the voice of Boog the bear and Ashton Kutcher is the voice of Elliot the deer with one antler.

I love Animal Farm (Based on the George Orwell book, not the porn version!)
It's a good story and if you've got kids, they may have to study it at school like I did, so it will give them a head start!
