What should be illegal is being expected to pay 20 dollars for a new cd with 11 songs on it, two of which are only good.

Not if they own the music you are copying. Now if you are distributing music that you own to others yes that would be illegal. But if you give your friend your CD, and then give them a copy and then they give you back your CD you might get off on a technicality. Signed future law student

Hmmm, you spend a year of your life writing a book that is going to be a best seller. I copy the book and hand it out to everybody for free. Did you just get cheated???

Yes. It's still copyright infringement, no matter what. Of course its against the law to make copies of magazine articles, too.

It is illegal. Reead that fine print on the CD label, no reproduction without permission.....Doesnt matter if you're selling it or giving it away.

Acording to updated anti-piracy laws yes. but the music and movie industries don't have the stones to challenge fair use laws look at those for further detail.
