I want to record audio from my TV onto my laptop. I can get it to record with multiple programs through my microphone port but the sound is really muddy and has horrible quality.

Would a turntable pre-amp work?

I have tried all of the top-rated programs.

Just buy a Y audio splitter, put audio out to the source eg. Stereo to your pc card audio in. Then go to control panel look for sounds and under audio tab there's recording option and record the sounds coming in to your audio card.

u may need a better app ... somthing like soundforge .. i would be careful hooking a preamp into the pc .... if u have pc speakers maybe run it into those to see if the sound is bad coming from the tv or only getting recorded bad....
