You explained what Murtha is trying to do.
And it all makes sense.
Just like republicans called all democrats unpatriotic, unsupportive of our troops, unwilling tooffer new plans, everythign but wanting to answer the questions, so theyve begun attacking this new plan of murthas.
Its a great well worded proposition, that only someone who wants to propel their own greedy plans would oppose at all cost.
Thats the republicans to the t.
Im just wondering if there will be enough votes to pass it through.
And if it doesnt get through, the final straw would be a full out right defunding of the war -- which I cant see happening.
I would hope that the House would respond to a failure to pass Murthas Bill, with the only logical course republicans would force them to take (which republicans know it makes democrats accountable) but I doubt democrats would actually do it.
This whole argument is republicans wanting to transfer accountability to democrats and make their every decision the one that was reason for failure -- in spite of the fact that any decision made at this point is ultimately doomed to failure.

The fact that you ask this question under “politics” rather than the “military” category indicates to me that you know full well that this measure, proposed by Sen. Murtha (cut off funds for the war, now! Murtha) is a thinly disguised attempt to ‘defund’ the war without having to pay any political “costs” for the disaster that will surely ensue.
The real question is why the liberals are such cowards. In 1975, when congress cut off funds for our ally (South Vietnam) and watched as millions of S.E. Asians were butchered by the communists in the aftermath. Today’s Democrats and a few cowardly Republicans want to avoid the political “blow back” when they force the troops out of Iraq (which will result in the slaughter of millions of innocent Sunni Muslims).
If the liberals want to cut off funding of the war (which they have been providing all along), they should state clearly their intentions to do so; and then allow an open debate in Congress on the matter. This fake attempt to micro-manage the war after nearly four years is as deceptive as it is disgusting.
This is an ‘undemocratic’ and sneaky way to shirk their constitutional responsibility just to avoid potential negative political consequences. Democrats in congress should live up to their name.
Senator Murtha and the other “get out of Iraq now” crowd think that they’re fooling the American people by pretending to know more than the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, the Marine Corp. Commandant and the other heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force about what our troops need. The only ones that will fall for that ridiculous notion are those ‘hate America libs’ who despise our military and don’t know anything about how it works.
Leaha,
Thanks for that great link to, “The Terrorist Mindset” news interview. I wish that everyone would watch it that doesn’t believe the depth of the terrorist training that is going on even in the U.S. I have downloaded it to my computer and plan to show it to all my friends.

That's already being done. Those troops are already on their way to Iraq and are fully equip ted. My family is there, and is never lacking for anything they need. The media is selling the public a bit of goods that are slanted to make this administration look worse. I don't understand why people are believing this hype.
There are troops who are coming home every, single day. There was the 'person of the week' interviewed on ABC. Actually, there are a bunch of people who go to the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport every single day...and welcome home soldiers...lines of them. The soldiers are so happy with seeing everyone welcoming and thanking them, some of them cry.
The majority of the media are filled with all kinds of you know what. The only one who carried the ongoing story is ABC with Peter Jennings. Sorry you missed it.
By the way...take time to view the video connected to this link. It will be another education you haven't had yet.

I have a better idea. How about mandating that no additional troops be sent to Iraq or into any other hot spots until the sons and daughters of George Bush and his administration are sent into the same battle zones our kids are being sent into now?

I got a better idea.
Just for a start. Practice if you will.
Leave it to the Iraqi Army to secure Baghdad... for instance.
We can then redeploy our troops to where the real terrorists are....Afghanistan.
The insurgents are not terrorists in the sense of 911 Islamic terrorists.
They are competing factions fighting over who is going to control territory and who is going to profit from the oil.
Coupled with centuries old religious beefs.
But I don't think the Iraqi Army could secure Mayberry let alone Baghdad.

Complicated. We hosed ourselves in the handling of the war..it is VERY important we don't just leave...everyone says "get out..it's a war for oil" then they buy a SUV. If you are ready for $250 a barrel (which will cause 75% inflation on EVERYTHING) in a US that has 50% of home owners paying 60% of income on Home finance..see the picture? MASS MASS bankruptcy..talking the new depression yet worse. We should never have gone more than a month. Get in..Knock out Hussein..let them have their civil war..but now we're hosed and they hate us. SO...Choices...Nuke them and build a parking lot with oil derricks...or police them forever...or the above future for the US...It's a tough one.

How about if they don't like it then don't volunteer for the service. This just another way for the Demo's to micro manage the war. Don't' be fooled folks our people in the Military or doing a good job and if they have complaints they have channels to go threw.

Not every single person getting deployed is going to see combat. There is a lot more to the army than just infantry men.

The best support we can offer our military is to bring them home NOW!
But, since that's not going to happen, YES you're right .. they should be trained properly and for heaven's sake, give them ALL the tools they need to do the job and to protect themselves while they're doing it!
