Most states have some provision for a "hardship" license; if the child MUST be somewhere and the parents absolutely cannot take them, then many states will allow them to earn a driver's license, albeit with some definite restrictions. Many hardship licenses restrict a young person to driving during daylight hours, with no other teens in the car, etc., but at least it will get them where they need to go.

Probably not. Check with your local laws. I live in FL - you can get a permit at 15 - but driving by yourself, and getting a license, you have to be 16. I think it's about the same in every state.

I am not current with California's 2007 law.
Growing up there, a few years back, I went to school with two separate kids who drove with a special liicense, allowing them to drive the great rural distance from their home-to school-only.
I drove a tractor (private land only) from the age of 9 in Calif.

Yes! If they were a licensed driver in another state, say Idaho for example. They would have a license to drive, and be perfectly legal.

I think he can if he has a Farm Endorsement. Most kids can drive for Farming Reasons. Check with SOS or DMV.
