recv'd a check in the mail with a letter stating that i had won this lotto and the check which is for $4775.00 very real is to pay the bahemian taxes of $3665.00 to claim a $55 thousand dollar prize.recv'd and email 3 months ago saying i had won it because they had electronically drew it over the internet.

Sorry, it's a scam.

It is impossible to win a lottery if you did not buy a ticket. There is no such thing as a lottery of email addresses, and there is no such thing as a "worldwide" lottery, either.

The check you have been sent is a forgery; the scammers have sent you a fake check, and hoped that you will cash it and forward money on to them before your bank discovers it's a fake. You can get into serious legal and financial trouble with something like that! Take it to your local police station immediately and hand it over to them. DO NOT attempt to deposit it in your bank -- you can be held responsible for check fraud if you try.

Lotteries are against Bahamian law at the moment. Gambling is only allowed in casinos and only for tourists.
