Did you know that up until the 90's, the problem was global COOLING?? It's completely flipped now, and you know why? Because everything is a political financial scam. Everyone is saying that the U.S. is the main cause of global warming. ARE YOU ALL IDIOTS????? Look at China! The whole country is an industrial pothole! Everything comes from China...EVERYTHING. Why isn't anyone blaming THEM??

Your thoughts, please.

Global warming is an indisputable fact. To date there have been nearly 1000 studies into global warming conducted throughout the world and by a wide variety of organisations. All of them conclude global warming is happening. There's not one single report that shows global warming isn't happening - not one.

There are people who say it's not happening, there are reports that say it's not happening, there are websites that say it's not happening. All of which is totally meaningless as it's not based on anything. I could say the sun won't rise tomorrow - just because I say it doesn't mean it's true. Next time someone tells you global warming isn't happening as them for the evidence.

Up until the 90's the problem was not global cooling. This was a possibility that was looked into (good scientists examine all possibilities) and the conclusion was that there was no evidence of global cooling. Rather than saying global cooling was happening they were saying that it wasn't. As with every argument put forward by those who dispute global warming it's been twisted to suit their own ends. In fact, global warming was first mentioned more than 150 years ago.

Global warming has been at the top of government aggendas for decades. Carter addressed it in 1980, Gore in the 80's, Thatcher in the 70's and 80's repeatedly addressed the issue but these pleas fell on deaf ears.

The US is the main cause of man's contribution to global warming - fact, period. China is the second biggest polluter, India is third. The rate at which China's economy is growing means that it will, in a few years time, become the biggest polluter. One billion Chinese haven't suddenly abandonned agrculture and started manufacturing goods - the majority are still living a simple existence in rural communities.

People aren't blaming China so much as it doesn't have the ability to do a great deal about global warming. People are blaming the US as it has more ability than just about every other country yet lags way behind when it comes to taking action.

Even if the earth was uninhabited it would still be warming up - it cools and warms of it's own accord and for the last 18,000 years has been in a warming up phase - that's what caused the last ice age to end. The difference is that in the last 200 years (since the Industrial Revolution) the rate at which the earth has warmed is faster than ever - instead of a very slow, gradual increase it is, by contrast, an exceptionally rapid rise.

It's interesting that one of the main sources of 'proof' relied upon by those who dispute global warming is a report written by Doctor Frederick Seitz - the same person that was employed by the tobacco industry to show that smoking wasn't harmful and to this day still claims second hand smoke isn't harmful. Only now, his interests don't lie in tobacco but in oil - as a director of one oil company and major shareholder in another.

I think the majority of the scientific community is pretty convinced that global warming is occurring. I have heard some interesting arguments about the cycles of sunspots that could also be a factor.

There is a problem, however, with the attitude which catagorically denies global warming is possible just because there have been some abuses in the model. Even if its a total hoax (which it isn't) it is irresponsible to not do anything to improve the environment. Its where we live. We should use our technological prowess to either reverse global warming, or if you just can't believe in it, to keep it from ever happening and that goes for cooling too. Even if its all made up, I still don't want to go through another ice age or a period of the runaway greenhouse effect. The shame is that it has been highly politicized and that doesn't serve anybody but the politicians on both sides seeking to remain in power.

Good times

For the cooling, the explanation could be the earth's distance from the sun but overall temperatures have been increasing in the last 1000 years. Also, current CO2 levels are higher than before. This comes from that 600,000 year old recorded data. These increases happened during the Industrial Revolution, now, can those be mere coincidences?
Eventually we will have to blame China when it becomes prosperous while the 1st world would implement anti-pollution laws and alternative energy since they can afford it. Well, China will have to do it best to help the environment. As a matter of fact, they should be building those solar panels, at lower costs, designed to be on the roof. I heard they're driving smaller cars over there.

Global warming has been debated by many scientists at this point. The latest report international findings....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPCC_Fourth_Assessment_Report

have used some pretty strong words to say that it is very real and we need to do something about it FAST. Now while the earth goes through natural hot and cold streaks, there is no doubt that excess CO2 in the atmosphere will one day lead to a thicker atmosphere and overheating. If you need proof taken to the extreme look at venus. Mercury is actually closer to the sun, yet venus is hotter.

Twenty five years ago, at least, scientists predicted that increasing carbon dioxide and pollution would cause the Earth to warm up, calling it the "Greenhouse Effect". They predicted that the ice caps would begin to melt because of a one or two degree increase in average temperature.
Both these predictions have been shown to be correct. Now, what are the chances of the scientists predicting it, and it being a natural phenomenon which occurs every few thousand years or so?

This is a man-made catastrophe, which we will have to fix.
We have finally effected the weather.

TRUE! Global warming is the delusion of paranoid phobic minds caused by the Chicken Little Syndrome. It's an insidious mental disease suffered by people who worry needlessly about unimportant things that nothing can be done about. I'm glad to see that you seem to be recovering so well. Don't have a relapse and stay away from those loony libtards. They'll pollute your mind again.

By the way your cooling thing (though I never heard of it), Global warming & Green House Effect are same.

You are right about China, they are using up all the worlds resource ,and do think they are concern about the environment,I don't think so,and global warming its a scam to generate fear into people to side track from the real issues that are a real concern to us as the people, which last thing they are worried about.

Actually Australia is the worst, and they realize that and are making slow changes as to not hurt the economy, The U.S. in a magor one also and needs to make changes faster than what is happening. China is headed for a disaster if they don't change their ways also, and Global warming is not fake...if you choose to not believe it you need to do more research to help yourself..

Oh and by the way...don't forget to replace you incandescence light bulbs because they will be illegal soon...plus you won't be able to buy them anyway..

"Global Warming" is just a political scam indeed. It was made up by the government to keep people's focus off of the real issues affecting America: increase in poverty, the elimination of the middle class, and a failing economy.
