I mean seriously, I know that Ohio State hasn't recently as the other teams have, but how can you justify ranking this team ahead of Florida, North Carolina and Wisconsin when they have been beaten by all of these teams, and the only real team they have beaten were Tennesse and Michigan State teams that aren't even ranked? Wisconsin has beaten at least two teams in the top 20.

Abel, you're logic is flawed, if they're better and they haven't lost to "crappy" teams, then how do you justify them losing to Wisconsin if Wisconsin is a "crappy" team. Wouldn't that have made them lose to a "crappy" team by your definition of "crappy" since Wisconsin is "crappy". You should come back when you actually think through your answer.

Thank you for your clarifaction, Abel, but the Ohio State/Wisconsin was a two point victory but the Badgers were up 17 with 6 mins. to go in the game so the final score was a lot closer than the game actually was. Also, if we are going on final scores, are you going to say Penn St. is a great team because the Buckeye barely beat them? And true, the Buckeye have only lost to Florida, N.C. and Wisconsin, but who have they beat? Tennesse and Michigan State aren't exactly powerhouses. But, we will see who is the better team on Sunday, and I think that will be the Badgers. Thank you for your answers, they have been enjoyable.

The reason for this is quite simple. as much as i hate ohio st being from michigan, they lost all 3 of their games to current top 10 teams and they were all ranked in the top 3 at the time they lost to them. They also lost all those games on the road meaning they have a perfect record at home and protecting home court is huge. Florida lost to 2 unranked opponents and 1 at home, north carolina also lost to 2 unranked oponents two of those at home and wisconsin lost to missouri st which is a struggling mid-major team. i think that wisconsin should be ahead of them because they beat them and only loss one other game which was early in the season and that is why they are #1 in the AP poll. but that is the reason they are ahead of florida and north carolina. Now im not saying ohio st. deserves to be #1 or even #2 im just saying that is WHY they are ranked that high.

Ohio State has won 11 straight, and like it or not, the voters always consider how teams are doing lately.
Ohio State, if you have watched their games, has also started playing much, much better now that Greg Oden is closer to 100% and now that their other young stars are maturing.
The three Ohio State losses you mention all took place on the road, Greg Oden was unable to play due to injury at North Carolina, and the loss at Wisconsin (the most recent one) was by a mere 3 points.
The loss at Florida is the only game in which the Buckeyes were significantly outplayed.
For the record, in the Associated Press poll (the one that means more) Wisconsin is ahead of Ohio State. I guess we'll see who's the #1 team when Wisconsin goes to Columbus on Sunday for a match-up of the top ranked teams.

It's just how it worked out based on what happened in games this weekend and on where teams were on the polls. If it makes you feel better, Wisconsin is number 1 in the other poll!
But like others have said, polls don't mean much right now unless you're fighting for a number one seed, or if you're struggling for some quality wins against ranked teams.
The most important result will be who gets to hoist the trophey after the final four.

area of the clarification the Badgers are ranked below Ohio St. could be simply by timing of their final losses. The Badgers lost extra at present then Ohio St., and so as that they went down in the scores, for this reason Ohio St. jumped basically before the Badgers in the scores. yet enable me say this, all human beings: do no longer diss the Badgers! they have a valid shot to win the national Championship. they have intensity, skills, and Alando Tucker rocks! basically simply by fact Ohio St. had this way of sturdy basketball recruiting classification would not right away lead them to national Champions!

because voters feel ohio state is the number one team in the country right now, the rankings don't really mean anything in the long run, thats why they have a tournament to sort out the best team in the country and seeding in the tournament has little to do with AP or USA/ESPN rankings

Its all about who is the better team AT THE MOMENT. Not in the past. and In NCAA if you lose it seems like you have to be demoted ( I dont agree with that) but that is just how it goes. And how the voters vote.
