Yes I do. I have known several fine women cab drivers in my travels. And a lot of the women I know can take better care of themselves than most men I know of. Apparently you have never been threatened with a balisong knife held by an angry Filipino woman. Or been chased by an angry Mexican gal with a corn machete. (That ended that engagement) Besides which, now a days there are all sorts of counter measure you can put in a cab for protection of the driver, male or female. And telling women they can't do something is a real good way to get them to go out and prove how wrong you really are. You must be young. Wait till you're my age and know something more about that mysterious critter we call the Female. Maybe then you will revere and cherish them as the gifts they are.

I see your point, but what about women working the night shift at convenience stores? Those places get robbed all the time....or fast food places, or video stores?
Do I think it's SAFE for a woman to be alone in a car with a stranger? No, but to say a woman shouldn't be ALLOWED to drive a cab doesn't make much sense to me either.

it's not that dangerous, most drivers are big women and they have a radio you're usually in public, somebody wants to run with the money, i won't even chase them, that's the companies problem, my tips are in my pocket or whatever money's left. you make that clear when you get robbed, few people want a murder charge and i've never been unfortunate enough to stumble upon a deranged killer much less let them in my cab.Depends where you are too, there aren't many woman cabbies but some do.

And you think it is safe for men? If they are going to rob you, it doesn't matter the sex. Two months ago one tried to strangle me, I took him for the ride of his life. He bailed out. In Vegas, they spray the drivers with lighter fluid and set them on fire after taking the money.
With the growing shortage of men to do blue collar jobs, like cab driving, the time may come where either white collar males will have to be forced to take blue collar jobs, or women who are unwilling to take the jobs given no other choice.
