I am asking on all levels/attributes though. For example a marathon runner would certainly be the best for endurance but wouldn't need to have any upper body strength. thoughts? opinions?

I have seen before studies that show basketball players and tennis players require the most complete fitness because of the combination of sprinting, needing both upper and lower body strength, and endurance to play a whole game or match.

Bicyclists. How many other athletes do you know of that participate in events that go on for days and weeks without stopping? The 2005 Tour de France covered 3607 kilometers over 21 days with only TWO rest days!

boxers would be my answer,that is if they stay within there training program.If you have ever spar in a ring you would know how much endurance and upper body strengh it take for just one round ,times that by fifteen,oboy give me some air here.Plus boxers are taken a massive amount of beating on there body's.Its hands down that boxing has the best athletes.Waterpolo players are right behind boxers.
