I'm 14, this summer i'll be 15 and I was going to go to acting school this summer to learn the skills of acting and also gain some experience. I didn't plan on going to any auditions untill after the summer but yesterday my sister was listening to the radio and heard an ad for an audtion for teen shows like zoey 101, hannah montanna...no experience needed, just if you think that "you've got talent and what it takes", anyways my sister made an appointment for my audtion for wednesday. I'm still not 100% sure if i want to go, i'm worried ill be the worst one there(since i have no acting experience whatsoever) and that I'll choke up while auditioning, actually i'm not even sure weather they give you a script or not for the audtion, which could be a potention problem. Well, what do you guys think I should do? And what are some things you should concentrate on doing while auditioning for roles while trying to be the character without getting distracted?

GO!!!

You will always regret it if you don't, trust me! I'm a choreographer and always dreamed of breaking into musical theatre but I was too nervous and not pushy enough. I totally regret having the chance when I was young and had nothing to lose!

When you are auditioning just throw yourself into it. While you're reading the script try to react honestly, don't "play" the character, become the character and react naturally. It's obvious when someone is looking for the right response on stage, but if you just go with your gut, they will take notice. It's easy to get scared and flub an audition but if you just respond the way you would in "real" life you'll do fine! Remember, theatre is an art form that reflects real life. Good luck and don't hesitate to go after your dreams!

First of all, before you go make sure you tell either your mom or dad so maybe they can go with you. I don't think it would hurt to go -- although you have no real acting experience yet, it would be informative to attend an audition so you know what to expect when it really matters. Script or no script, if they give you a situation and a character description of who they want you to be, try the "method acting approach" which means you actually try your best to imagine yourself as that person in whatever situation is being played out. A FEW WORDS OF CAUTION, THOUGH: Many times these "auditions" are a scheme to get people to pay for acting lessons (that, of course, the audition people are in charge of). They'll tell you how talented you are and that you are just the right type for various teen shows, but that before you audition again for these specific shows, they recommend that you take a few lessons to become more marketable and polished, etc. Years ago, my friend took her 2 daughters to a model search audition where the head people ranted and raved over their girls - but suggested modeling classes so they would know how to pose, how to walk, etc. Well, $4,000 (yes!) later there were never any modeling jobs offered. So, enjoy and get the experience, BUT be careful of any possible scams!

You should always give things a try - no regrets. Even if you are the worst one there and end up throwing up in the audition room, you know what you have to improve on (not throwing up) and you have the beginnings of a thing called experience. "Thow caution to the wind" and go ahead and try out. You never know, if you are lucky, you might end up being the little sister of a pop star who shaves her head and marries the worst rapper in the world.

the auditions a scam. a friend of mine did the same thing. she made it and they required her to pay tons of money for "acting classes" and told her they would call her when they needed her. that was 6 months ago and she has not been called since. if you really want to get into acting, start doing plays at your local community theater. you don't have to pay any money to be part of it, you will almost always get a part, and the people there can help you learn the skills you need.

If you have a geniune passion for it, it will become easy once you actually start to do it. You will find a "zone" to be in and you will become the character your imagining yourself to be.If it's something your just doing to while away a summer or to meet cute boys, I would not do it. If its truly something you want to do for the rest of your life, I say go for it. It could be the most wonderful thing you ever did for yourself

You should go for it... though you should of called yourself..to make sure you know what to do..you could either have to make your own monolouge..or they give you a script..you should call them again and ask them what is required for you to take over there for the audition....but yes..you should really go for it..if you dont..you'll eventually be questioning yourself why you let this opportunity pass by.
so best of luck.

You are in the wrong business if you are worried about the things you mention. Loosen up, let go, relax and realize that any experience + or - is better than no experience at all.

Go for it!

It will *be* experience whether you get the part or not.

It sounds like a good place to start
