i'm in grade 10 and have been in canada since the last 2 yrz... i managed to make friends but i want to make gud friend... when i'm talking to a person alone itz kool but sometimez i end up getting used by other ppl 'coz i 'm smart (academicallly) and ppl just talk 2 me b'coz they want my work... in grade 10 what i have seen is that most of the guyz end up talking about vulgar stuff.. i know itz natural but i just don't like to talk about it soo if i'm alone wid my frnd itz kool and i can talk about stuff but whenever i'm in a group the conversation ends up to some vulgar topic... sooo yea i just stay out of the conversation and end up alone... any ideaz how do i find new friendz... i don't really want to do anything which involves money...

well, how we sometimes measure a good friend is how well u get along with them. I'm sure u've noticed that in school, people hang out in different groups, and most of the people in one group has something in common, whether it's juz galz, asians or prefects... so maybe, u juz have to try and fit urself into a new group that suits u best, obviously the current one isn't working very well... walk around or chill, someone will come along who might juz be the one... ^^" ( ~happy-go-lucky!!~)

as to the being used part, everyone has had their share of being used, it's not fun, but after awhile, we learn to recognize the signs and juz be wiser, so, be wiser next time, learn from the past.. ^-*

Go out for the school play or join a club. That way the topic is sort of directed, but isn't necessarily academic. Find something you really enjoy doing ... the friends will come once they get to know you. And an added benefit meeting friends in a club/play/group is that you already know they like something you like - you already have something in common.
