Can you tell just by touching or is there a particular test you can perform?

Try putting a flame under the leather in question.. and move it back and forth for a few seconds.. if it doesn't burn.. then it's real.. if it shivels up.. then it is fake...

Real leather is heavier in texture and feel different whereas artificial leather is light in texture.

real leather has a distinct smell of hide also it is realy soft.the price is not always the price you can buy fake stuff at an expesive price.

Look on the back of the fabric. Pleather will have a fine weave pattern. Also, smell it. Pleather will smell like vinyl.

to tell the truth you need to smell it if it is real it will have a nice leather smell if not of course it wont

I pull apart the edges of the fabric. If it appears to be layered, then fake, if it appears solid, then real. Love the lighter tip, gotta try that one.
