I have a new unopened copy of xp but doesn't have the product key sticker.And I don't have purchasing info on it.

Nope, sorry, you can probably contact microsoft on this problem, maybe they can reset it!! or give you a new one!!

If it's an actual valid, legal (not burned) version of XP, contact Microsoft and tell them about the store that ripped you off. MS may charge you a bit of money for a serial key, but at least it'll be legal.
Cracked versions of XP can't get some of the vital security updates (why MS would choose to allow more spamming zombie computers is beyond me)
I, on the other hand, use an operating system that didn't cost me a dime, I don't have to register it, I get security updates easily and it's actually easier to use than XP.
I can also install Vista-like eye-candy whenever I want, for free. It's nearly virus proof, nearly hacker proof, tweakable in any way I want, and I can LEGALLY change it and share it with my friends.
It's called Ubuntu - and it's an easy to use form of Linux.

Your best bet is to call Microsoft and I'm sure they will give you one, just tell them that when you bought it, you didn't realize it didn't have a prod. key. For their info, you received as a gift or you bought it from a thrift store, garage sale or swap meet! It shouldn't be a problem! I've heard you can find a key generator, that generates new prod. keys, but then it's considered a software piracy and when you go to get updates, they'll tell you your copy of Windows isn't Genuine! So, just call them, it should be fine!
