Pros: by discussing a living will with your family, spouse... what your wishes are regarding.."when to pull the plug", for lackk of a better term.... if you want to be an organ donor..

If you want life saving measures taken......

These are all things that your family needs to know how you feel.. and you need to have in writing. Your family doctor needs to have a copy in your patient file. and a family member/spouse.. whomever they would call in case of an emergency, needs to have a copy, or the original. Appointing A person to handle these things for you when and if you become unable to make these decisions is a big help to all concerned.

Cons: You put a huge burden of responsibility on your family.. trying to figure out what you would have wanted done.

Don't be a ****.. Git 'er dun

Pros: Having your will be done when you pass on. Making sure everything is straightened out ahead of time so your family does not have to stress out figuring it out. This will be a BIG burden lifted off of them! Ensuring that you are not kept alive against your will if you are a vegetable with no chance of recovery. Assuring that you ARE kept alive if that is what you truly want! Saving your family thousands of dollars in legal and medical costs. Saving your family a lot of time and grief trying to figure this whole thing out while mourning your passing.

Cons: Having to fill out the paperwork and talk to your doctor.

Wow. Tough call. :-P

The pro's are that your wishes, should you not be able to commuinicate them are known. The con's are that you could end up like Terry Schiavo and wish (if you can) that your wishes WERE known.
