Recall that the formula for the surface area of a cube is

SA = 6 * (L*H), 6 on account of the fact that a cube has 6 sides which are exactly the same.

SA = 6 *4*4 = 24 * 4 = 96 square inches

Remember the area will be length * width * height = 4*4*4 = 64 cubic inches.

Hope that helps :)

the surface area of one side it 16 (4 x 4). Then multiply that by 6 (one for each side) which is 16 x 6 = 96. The volume is Height x width x base which is 4 x 4 x 4 =64

what they said, since a cube is made of sides that are the same distances, when one side is four inches, all the other sides would be four inches. And since there are six sides on any cube, ~the surface area would be 4x4x6 which is 96 inches. (or you can count all the little cubes on a 4 by 4 Rubik's cube ^^)
~the volume is like stacking 4 of the 4 by 4 squares, since by stacking 4 of them, it would produce a height of 4 inches, so the equation would be 4x4x4 which is 64 inches.

* formula for volume: height x length x width (for a cube they're all the same)
* formula for surface area:
cube: number of sides(which is 6) x the length of one side x the length of one side.

lateral surface area is = perimeter of base x height
=( 4x4 )X4 sq.in= 64sq.in
total surface area = 64+ 2x4x4=96sq.in
(includes top&base)
volume = 4x4x4cubic in
