i think you mean the "insert" key which toggles microsoft word from typover to inserting text
push insert(top right sector of keyboard)

Look at the numbered keypad on the right side of your key board. Push Number Lock to turn it off. Now push the zero key (note it has INS ~ Insert) on it. Type something, it shouldn't overwrite the existing text. Push Number lock again to turn it on, and stop the possibility of turning on over write. Chow

are you referring to the INSERT key?

That happens to me a lot. I insert the cursor where i want to insert a word or change something and instead of moving everything forward, it types over it.
