sex chromosomes only have half the number of chromosomes that the rest of your body cells have. Also there's an XX (female) sex chromosome and an XY (male) sex chromosome.

Sex cells have half the number of chromosomes than the body cells. SO if the body cell has 42 chromosomes , sex cells have 21. So when an egg cells(21 chromo) gets united with a sperm cell(21 chromo) you have a human being complete with 42 chromosaomes.

sex cells(grem cells)/ gametes they are different from the other body cells by the way they divide.They undergo meiosis and give rise to haploid cells (n), where somatic cells after mitiosis give diploid number of cells(2n). they carry eiter X or Y chromosomes but not both. they give rise to sperms and ovules
