If our soldiers are fighting to prevent the next 9/11 from happening, isnt it our duty to do our part as well?

So if by listening to my phone calls would stop another 9/11, isnt that worth it?

Especially when theres too many men and women fighting to protect our freedoms and dying because they believe they are doing their part in this war against terrorists?

Fraginal -- My point is simple. Terrorists are plotting. If we have to be inconvenienced some -which no one will even see or feel unless youre plotting terrorists attacks -- then we should all do our part in stopping terrorists.

Jose R -- I took that oath you moron, and in no way does it support your arguement one way or the other. Whats youre point because what you said doesnt make sense.

MichaelS -- reponding to your quote of Ben Franlkin I respond with quote from another great american -- "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"

Jose R -- read through your little addition.
The keyword to look at would be UNREASONABLE.

Do you think it unreasonable for a matter of national security for someone to listen to your calls to see if it was a plot against the country?
If thats so, then youre as far off as the republicans who think americas should sit around do nothing and let them get away with all they have been for 6 years

Oh, I agree completely. I tried a post similar to this before and got shot down. I told people if no one has anything to hide, then they won't mind being listened to. I don't mind. No skeletons in this closet. It's worth it to me, because I like my freedoms and my family is over in Iraq fighting and they believe in this as well.

As you will read in the Military Oath of Allegiance the first sentence will answer you question and hopefully make you understand how stupid you are.

I, {insert name here}, do solemnly swear, (or affirm), that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;

US Constitution Stipulates on
Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Unless they already have changed any of those two the fight for freedom is here in Washington. Bring the soldiers back!

The keyword is not unreasonable, everybody knows that unreasonable could be anything and it is stated like that purposely. The key word is WARRANT, which we all know they didn't issue, and still don't, and the ones that were/are issued were not supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I believe it's worth it. I'm not negotiating nuclear material over the phone, so I highly doubt they'd be listening in on my boring conversations.

They're only going to be listening to the people involved that threaten national security! Besides with or without the patriot act they'd still be tapping. It'd just be more secretive!

Intrusion into privacy is justified if the person involved is a suspect in a crime or there are reasons to believe that he is a terrorist. However, wire taps must not be used against innocent citizens to link them to crimes.

Hey, I do not care who listens to my conversations & if they can learn something to help the US - I say listen away.
The same people whining about people listening to the cellphone conversations are sitting beside me in restaruants & walking through stores irritating me because I can hear their stupid conversations. If they are so private PLEASE stop talking close to me, I want to eat my dinner, watch my movies, & shop without hearing your "private" telephone conversations. How much privacy can they be looking for - I have heard wives hooking up with boyfriends, men claiming to be at work (in the theater) - I want them to do what is best for our country & our military not be petty about conversations they will let anyone hear.

As Benjamin Franklin once said, "Those who would give up freedom for security usually end up with neither." History is full of examples supporting the truth of one of our greatest citizens words.

confident, and the comparable people who dedicated plenty of their lives complaining on the subject of the Patriot Act now make excuses for this, and forget approximately on the subject of the reality that Obama no longer in basic terms saved the Patriot Act in place yet in addition accelerated it.

Amazing. You actually have some sense. Good question and support. Maybe we won't disgree on everything (although you are, in most cases, far far off).
