Lexus. They are always rate the highest in every reliability test. And yes, Toyota makes Lexus, which means that Toyota is the best. The Japanese car companys are also usually more reliable than American car companys. The best are usually Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. The new brands, Kia and Hyundai, seem pretty reliable, but are to small and not yet well known car companys to know how reliable they are over the years. If you want one car company, Toyota.

When you ask a Q like this, you will get a handful of answerers & opinions of experiences.
I will post the most recent results of a study by J.D.Powers & Associates.
This is an ongoing study & is published anually.
They collect data on THOUSANDS of vehicles.
The study is of vehicles on the road for 3 years.
The data recorded is based on how many times the vehicles are in the repair shop over the 1st 3 years on the road. (not related to maintenance, ie oil change, tire rotation etc)
This will determine the "reliability" factor of any manufacturer.
Im gonna Copy&Paste a previous answer for you:

Don't fall for public perception- Toyota isn't as "reliable" as you may think. Take this fact on- Toyota recalled more vehicles than it sold last year worldwide...Reliable? I don't think so.
GM has the 5 year 100K warranty, which is one of the highest in the industry. Stay away from nissan, cheap interiors, Dodge gives the US automakers a bad interior with recalls and quality issues. Don't get me started on ford. Kia/Hyundai- Would you own a car called a kia? and honda has rat fur interiors. Take your pick.

My ranger has held together nicly since 1989, and have had no problems. I know many people with ford Trucks and Ford cars (built on frames, thier unibody cars needs work) and they last forever and they are severly punished all the time and they still kick. I have a friend with an ex police car, Ford Crown Victoria and he's at 330 000km and its still running nicly, and with only recently seizing the tentioner pulley. My Ranger has never had a natural occuring problem (The owner before me, family friend, was on the highway and a semi put a rock through the grill, radiator, fan, fan shroud, and damaged the water pump). I know many Ford trucks and Crown Victorias that are well over 400 000km and just as many over 500 000km with minimal repairs. I have a friend that works in another garage and they service Black Top Cab's and he constantly sees these cars come in with over 500 000km and even 600 000km. In my garage I've seen many over 400 000km and still running stong and like new. I've seen a few at over 700 000km. And with minimal repairs, and with required maintance. Fords smaller cars (the unibodies) on the other hand are lucky to make it over 300 000km, they usually die at about 200 000km - 250 000km. I see more foreign cars, mainly asian cars, then I do ford products. In the winter, it seems that most asian/erurpean cars don't like starting. My Ranger I park outside and it starts first time in -40C weather.

Depends on how much money you want to spend. And I will beat all the Honda people now. No Honda's are not that reliable. I know a couple of mechanics that love them thou. Because they make a lot of money on them.

From my experience, anything foreign! LOL. I have had multiple GM vehicles...American cars are no good..they break down, go haywire, yadda yadda yadda...
I think Hondas are quite reliable, parts are easier to find, although sometimes more expensive to fix..but I have spoken to many people and they tell me that they don't have alot of problems.
I currently have a Pontiac 2002 Grand Am...
My boyfriend also bought a Pontiac.. 2001 Grand Am..
Stay away from Grand Ams!!! LOL

I'd pick a Toyota any day but after the warranty is gone you'd better start to say your rosary as parts are ridiculously expensive. New starters $ 500.00 alternators $600.00.
