Well, for me, the water is totally natural. Some times I forget it is even there. I just leave the water in there. Some people I swim with stick the end tip of their towel in their ear to try to pop the water bubble. Problem with this is that it could affect the ear drum, going in so deep. The ear drum is very brital, and is affected by touch and impact.
Others bang their hangs to one side, trying to get it to run out. Problem with this is that is kills brain cells. Banging the head side to side, forces the brain the move in that section. It's not the move ment that gets it, it's jerking back and forth.
I suggest that you A. leave it in there, B. Get some ear plugs or Swimmers ear drops. Or C. Tilt your head to one side until the water trickles out (Don't jerk it).

All you need to do for a general water clog in your outer ear is just tilt your head to the side of the ear with water and throw your head down towards the ground with some force behind but don't injur anything! You don't need to be standing when you do this and you also don't have to humiliate yourself in front of other people as many other answers sound like they would.

You can use hydrogen peroxide to clean your ears. Mix 50% water and hydrogen peroxide. Fill ear, let sit in ear two minutes, drain and do other ear. Do this a couple times a day until ears do not retain water or bubble while peroxide in them.

Place one foot on the ground and the other lift off the ground and away from your body.
Lean your weight toward your grounded foot and THEN shake your in air leg -first away from you and then back toward you -and do this with a quick movement
During this leg jerking back and forth lean your head (with ear ) parallel to the ground and water should break loose if you do this enough times.

first tilt your head to the side to drain the excess, then you can try to clean them with something that evaporates like vinegar or alcohol.
