So i have been feeling lonely lately due to my obsession with schoolwork and always staying home alone. I had an emotional brakedown and had been told that i need to spend time with people and all that crap.

For the past weeks ive been hanging with friends and all, but i have this one close friend that i feel very attached to like a brother. But i feel like im attached too much, i believe its because of my loneliness, but what should i do? see a psychologist?

a counselor may not be a bad idea. you are still young and hence are susceptible to identity crisis/confusion. try to get out more (and all that crap)...it could really help you.

Arturo,

You said you had an emotional breakdown - what do you mean by that? Did you breakdown and cry? Freak out? Or did a physician/psychologist diagnose you?

As you know, it's really difficult to diagnose a person's issue over the internet. I really think you need to get in to see a counselor. Usually, when a person clings to something so tightly - there are many reasons behind it. Same thing on the obsessing your doing over school work.

If you like to read - there are a couple of books I would recommend:

Hot Stones and Funny Bones: Teens Helping Teens Cope with Stress and Anger (Brian Seaward)

Get a Grip on Life - What every teen must know to have a great life (Hanifa Haji)

When Nothing Matters Anymore: A Survival Guide for Depressed Teens (C. Bev Cobain )

Help Yourself for Teens: Real-Life Advice for Real-Life Challenges (Dave Pelzer)

it doesn't hurt to see a psychologist if it will make you feel better.. by the way have you asked yourself why you feel so attached with this person? loneliness can't be the only reason..

Seeing a professional therapist may be a really good idea. Maybe you can talk your buddy into helping you pick up some girls.

no, hug your friend tight every time you see him and tell him how much he means to you whenever you can. also if he farts in front of you, run to his behind and sniff it like a hungry dog.
