Isn't that sad how we (Americans) worry about how blacks are treated in the south..!! Thank god my parents taught me to respect all people even those that live oceans away!!

I'm from Mississippi (spelled correctly) and moved to Houston, Texas many years ago. It has been my experience here that you are judged 99.9% on you as a person and not by your race. I built a very successful trucking business here, and I was helped alot by whites to do it. But, like everywhere else in the good ole USA, there's at least 1 jerk every 3 miles. Lol

Never understood why people think blacks are a minority in the south. From experience, there are all types of people everywhere you go. The nice people will judge you for your character.

Houston's been taken over by Hispanics! Lol. They make up 37% of the population while Whites make up about 30%. But Houston is one of the most diverse cities in America so there aren't many race problems here that I know of.

I am from Texas, it is not a racist state but there are some racist people (just like anywhere else).
A lot of times I have never felt that people look at me and judged me because of my race, it seems that people care more about how you carry yourself.

Sorry to tell you, that the southern states are still that way. I live in the greater metro of Houston, and there are some people that are not very nice to minorities.

I've been to Texas, Mustang Island, and one guy came down there was from Austin or somewhere like that and he was racist, but I took care of that. I would say some people in Texas are racist, I guess that state is racist, but I've only seen it once.

Texas isn't nearly as bad as Mississippi. You should be just fine going down there. Remember - they're the ones with the problems.
