My sister was 10years old when she watched me deliver my son. The doctor was amazing with this. He allowed her to stand right beside him, and he talked to her and told her everything that was going on. Of course at 10 years old, she had ALOT of questions, and he answered every single one of them. I thought this would be a way for me and my sister to get closer, since she is 10years younger than me, but it had a secondary side effect....she no longer wants kids of her own. Before being in the delivery room with me, she said she wanted three kids, and wanted to have her first when she was about 23.....well now she said she is gonna wait til she is like 30..if even at all.

You need to ask the hospital to get an exact answer.
For us :
- Baby #2 was born at home, our older child was with us - he had turned 2 years old just a few days earlier.
- Baby #3 was also born at home, and both of our older children were with us. They were 2 and 4 yrs old at the time.

Only the hospital you're delivering at can answer that question for you. They all have their own policies; there's no national law or anything.
I've had my children at a few of their siblings' births. As old as 11 (my oldest at my youngest's birth), and as young as 2. It has been a positive experience every time, and not one child has ever felt traumatized or unduly disturbed by any part of the labor/birth process. We did prepare them for it ahead of time, and children who did not wish to be in the room to see it happen were allowed to wait in the waiting room with a friend or family member we designated for that purpose. We had a separate person to be in the birthing room specifically for the children who stayed in there as well, so they didn't need to depend on their distracted parents to pay attention to their needs, or their questions, concerns, responses to what they were seeing.

It varies on the hospital and if you have had any complications during your pregnancy. My niece was 4 and aloud to be in the delivery room when her little brother was born. all I can tell you to do is to call and speak with someone at the hospital and then have the same conversation with your doc. Seeing as they might have diff. rules.

depends on hosptal policy so "I thinks" aren't really a consideration. Generally if the delivery is going to be smooth and there are no complications, whoever the mom allows in the room is her choosing reguardless of age. We had homebirths so that wasn't an issue for us.

Most hospitals allow siblings to be present but ask that an adult (not the dad) be there to watch the kids and take them out if needed. There is no set minimum age.

Definitely up to the center you are in. Some places have no age restrictions, some places have 11 or older only.

I would ask your doctor. I asked mine and he said if I was comfortable with people in the room, they could be there, no matter what age. My then thirteen year old sister held one of my legs, it was great birth control! haha

its usually up to the hospital and you. some hospitals have strict rules of no children under 16, others say immediate family members. and of course if the partner is under age then he will be allowed. call your hospital and find out their rules
