GSLV: Geo Synchronous Launch Vehicle.
This is the vehicle with which we launch a satellite that would orbit the planet Earth at the same rate as the rotating Earth; hence, it would remain exactly stationary in space over a particulat point on earth (Like over Chennai) , even though the satellite is orbiting around the rotating earth.
PSLV: Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.
This is a vehicle used for launching a satellite from the Polar region, where the earth's gravitational pull is the weakest, and a satellite can easily break free of the earth's gravitation and can head towards other planets like the Mars, Pluto, or Moon.
