As long as there's no family history of citrus allergy it shouldn't be a problem. Just watch for any reaction the first few times you try it.

Your public health nurse probably did say no citrus, that doesn't mean she is right though.
I do baby-led introduction to solids which isn't widely accepted, but it is starting to be (again, baby-led is very old school). There is a new rule that some public health nurses are agreeing with "if it has to be pureed the baby is too young", that's part of baby-led.
Read this and see what you think. Afterall I can't tell you want is right for you and your family (I don't know you or your family history of allergies etc) and likely neither does the health nurse:

They say no citrus, but my kids firsts love was pineapple, all 3 of them... My 4 month old loves it, and my 17 month old twins had it at 5 months and loved it. No problems either...
I wouldnt suggest pumping him full of it, but having it once and a while wont hurt him! HTH!

My nephew eats lemons all the time, he loves them, he's been doing it for 2 months now and no problems, but if you are worried consult your pediatrician. Anything in moderation is ok.

My stepson's pediatrician used to have dinner with their family when he was a baby and used to give him lemons, so I do not think its a problem unless you overdo it.
