Link has to also defeat the ringleader that captured Colin

The minions on boarback keep coming back unless you defeat the leader. So, you just ride up to the guy (or almost run into him coming from the opposite direction) and slash him with your sword. If the other guys get annoying, slash at them on your way to kill him (it does take a bit for them to come back). But he is your target, not them. To me, this was the most annoying part of the whole game, though once I figured it out it got over fast enough.

The first part is basically just getting lucky by slashing your sword wildly as you ride right past them. The second part (the joust!) between Link and the "ringleader" is kind of tough. Since Link is right-handed, I would suggest staying to the right of the bridge. Once you get close to the "ringleader", start to change sides and swing at him with your sword. It should take a couple of hits before he's down! I actually found this to be the hardest part of the whole game, so good luck!
