Ok so the "politically correct answer" that Micheal is saying is because he wanted to focus on his film career, and that ESPN didn't like that. ESPN says that it was just time to part ways. I personally think that it was a combination of a few things. First, Micheal's arrest had to have something to do with, especially since he never told producers that he was arrested and they had to find out from the media, and Second, ESPN doesn't keep a steady cast of analyst, they have a numerous ex-players and have chosen not to renew their contracts. I think its just ESPN's way of keeping it fresh. Didn't anyone notice that this past season even Steve Young's role on Sunday Countdown was cut down just a segment, and that he was only really on for the Monday Night Football countdown. And for everyone information, yes Micheal may have been singing the praises of those he liked, but he was a very good and accurate in his analysis!!!

Because he could barely speak English, made an **** of himself, and did a terrible job in predicting and analyzing football? Irvin's whole schpiel was...anyone he liked...he talked up. If he didn't...he found an excuse to dislike you...and tried to make that his "color". The guy STUNK. Good ridance.
I'm looking back on Irvin...and the guy was NEVER right. He always said stupid things that didn't make sense, and wouldn't be born out by the games.

He didn't get fired, they just didn't renew the contract, it was a mutual decision. Irvin wants to do some stuff in Hollywood now.

He brought no intelligent conversation or anything worthwhile to ESPN! ESPN is 1000% better now without him!!

ummmm...probably because he wasn't very good?
perhaps his viewer Q rating sucked?
maybe he wouldn't share his "blow" with the producer?
maybe they were finally embarrassed in their employment of a bonfide drug dealer????
Multiple choice--pick any or all of the above.
then again--pick none of the above for any better reasons out there--but I think I covered most all of the potential reasons....
