Check the memory on your computer. If it is <256MB, upgrade it to 512MB by buying another 256MB RAM.
Can you tell when is your computer slow?
Is it during the starting of the computer or while shutting down or during general usage???
If it is during starting the computer, you can try by clearing the startup icons by going to MSCONFIG.
If it is during shut down of the computer, check for virus or spyware.
If it is during normal usage, it is due to the memory or a virus attack again….
Also, you can try by deleting some files and folders not frequently used…

The speed of the computer depends upon the RAM of the computer and the the space used on the hard drive. If you play games on the computer then you should increase your RAM to 512. Your hard drive should be at least 25% empty. Please delete any unwanted programs/games/files if necessary
