A co-worker told me about a week ago that I can ruin my sneakers from not wearing any socks in them. I didn't believe her, because I have been wearing sneakers without socks for most of my life, and none of my sneakers never got ruined, except for the insoles turning yellow from aging. How can the sneakers be ruined? I do know that there are sneakers out there specificly made to be worn without socks, and those are the sneakers I normally buy. Is this true that sneakers can be ruined from not wearing socks, and what happens to them if they are ruined?

Ew. They will turn yellow & start to smell. Maybe even get moldy from the moisture.

In regular sneakers, friction would be the culprit. With no
socks, the foot rubs against the inner sole and with constant
wear will eventually go right on through the bottom. The
shoes created to be worn without socks have a protective
layer so that this won't occur and are removable for washing...
which you must do as if it were a sock...or not if you don't
care about Athlete's Foot from the built up bacteria. Ugh.

well my bf wore his sneakers with no socks for a week and well it didnt turn out so good 1 they smelled from the sweat of his feet and i had to wash them 2 the insole rubbed on his foot which irritated him 3 the back of the sneaker rubbed on the back of his heel and he got a blister so you can not only make your sneakers smell like feet you can possibly get blisters and atheletes foot from the sweat building up in the shoe and dont tell me you cant or you never have theres a first time for everything

They will suck the sweat from your feet and get smelly, also socks gets the dirt and don't let it get to the shoes. just wear very short socks(they wont show). Always change your socks after you removed your shoes and never wear a sneaker two days in a row...

I think what your co-worker meant by 'ruining' them is that your shoes will smell nasty! All the sweat and bacteria from your feet will soak into the shoes. I have never heard of shoes that were made to be worn without socks. I think that is disguisting, it feels gross, but whatevers clever trevor!

Real Quick.
If socks weren't important, wouldn't have such a large sock section at the stores.

The shoes made to be worn without socks. Require extra care.

I think it may differ per person. If your feet are sweaty, the shoes will definitetly stink. But you seemed to be okay- and if you have had no problems- well, I dont' see why you should stop. dont fix what's not broken, right? Maybe it just ruins your coworker's sneakers.

if your trainers are ruined from not wearing socks it must be down to foot odor. the feet sweat a lot in trainers. try using a foot talc that should help.

I never wear socks with my runners either. Iv'e never heard of ruining them, unless you don't clip your toe nails and they wear through the top.

I think that they would get wrecked from when your feet sweat and then you'll never get that smell out.
