Sorry, it's a term that came up tonight while I was at a friends house. There was a guy there who a few of us don't particularly like (just because of what he did to a friend of ours)

Anyway, he started in on his usual rant against straight people and I asked him if he's a closet hetrophobe...I'm straight and he thinks I shouldn't be 'part of the group' because of that...He said no and that I was stupid for thinking so.

I'm just wondering what to do about it. I love my mate but he's her brother so they kind of come as a package. We've tried to see her on her own, but he always tags along. While at first we tried to make him welcome, he just doesn't try to make friends. He's a bit abrasive.

So how can we either make him feel welcome or 'deal' with him?

...and have you ever heard the term 'hetrophobe'?

The term 'heterophobe' has been around for a long time.

In reference to the friend, just tell him that he is entitled to his opinion, but would he mind not sharing it so openly with the group. Smother him with kindness and he will stop...

it's heterophobic and yes it is a term like homophobic. Just look at him like he is nuts. You don't have to say anything. Rolling your eyes may work also.

All people who enjoy one another's company belong together. It doesn't matter about anything else unless they are hurting each other in some way. An example of this would be a recovering alcoholic may enjoy the company of another alcoholic but may find it dangerous for their sobriety to be around them.

Yes, I've heard the term before. I'd just get up in his face telling him to either shut the f*** up and show some respect or get the f*** away before you make him shut it. Let him know if he wants to be hateful he can do it somewhere else.

Tell them that he is not welcome unless he is willing to contribute to the evening. Don't take any sexual sh*t from him. Ask him to leave if he doesn't comply.
And really I'm only heterophobic when it comes to psychos with tire irons.

He must either shut it! Or move it!

Look at crud we deal with, why wouldn't it make you Christophobic or heterophobic?

Just tell him to tone it down a bit or he won't be welcome because you have enough stress in your life! YOU HAVE THAT RIGHT!
